Vocalist Kathy Lamar sings a diverse blend of jazz, R&B, soul, and pop hits and delights audiences with her powerful voice and infectious laugh.
Kathy Lamar grew up in Grand Rapids, MI and in 1980, she moved to Las Vegas to sing with her friend Tex Richardson. During her 30-year career in Las Vegas, she also sang backup and duos with such famous musicians as Wayne Newton, Gladys Knight, The Four Tops, Lola Falana, and Robert Guillaume.
Lamar’s beautiful voice has also been heard in other countries. Since the early 1990s, she’s performed for several months at a time in Japan, China, Taiwan, and Singapore.
She’s now returned to Grand Rapids where she performs with various local musicians. Kathy Lamar says her shows are like a blind date –– because you never know what you’re going to get. One minute, you might hear a Sting or Bob Marley tune, and the next, an Ella Fitzgerald or Billy Holiday song. Her powerful voice and infectious laugh keeps audiences coming back for more.
