Every Tuesday starting around 7 PM, Bar Divani features some of the finest female jazz singers in the area. There is no cover charge so come in, relax and enjoy the cool sound of these Divine Divas.
This week Sylvia Brooks Taylor is back to wow everyone once again. Sylvia retired from the United States Postal Service in 2009 and keeps busy with volunteer work and music. Friends at church enjoy her love of singing gospel; friends at Billy’s in East Town enjoy her love of singing the blues. Taylor is a member of the “Flashback” rock and blues band, as well as a duo called ExiriaX. Appearing with Sylvia this week is Mark Kahny.

If you love delicious hors devours, smooth jazz, and amazing artwork, you’re going to love “The Art of Jazz.” The fundraising event is a collaborative of local artists who came together to raise money for the United Methodist Community House.
UMCH is a non-profit agency whose mission is to increase the ability of children, adults, and families to succeed in a diverse community. They collaborate with area agencies to offer family-friendly programs, childcare, and family and senior programs.
“The Art of Jazz” is from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, at the City Flats Hotel Grand Ballroom in Grand Rapids. There will be hors devours and a cash bar, a silent auction of one-of-a-kind artwork, and great jazz music. Tickets are $30 each or $50 for a couple. Tickets are available online by clicking here
