Howard & The White Boys

The Gilmore Collection

July 31 @ Bobarino’s at the BOB

Chicago, a city steeped in blues history, is where Howard & The White Boys have honed their chops. Howard & the White Boys have established a reputation as one of the city’s favorite attractions and regular appearances at Buddy Guy’s Legends has
afforded them an opportunity to display their wares before locals and out-of-towners, who come to Legends to hear the best the city has to offer in blues entertainment. Funk, R & B, and rock have become Howard & the White Boy’s signature sound. The band is now focusing on touring to support the new CD and working on material for their next one.

Movies in the Park: The Princess Bride August 02, 2013 @ 7:00 p.m.

This movie will be free to the public and shown at Ah-Nab-Awen Park. Doors will open at 7:00 pm, and films will begin at dusk. Local vendors will be on hand to provide food and popcorn, and participants will be permitted to bring their own alcohol.

The new Movies in the Park series is being undertaken in an effort to expand outdoor recreational opportunities in Downtown Grand Rapids.  In the autumn of 2012, a volunteer Task Force was assembled to prioritize the types of active and passive recreational investments that would be a best fit for the downtown Grand Rapids community.  According to the outreach efforts conducted by the volunteer Task Force, the movie screen concept was a clear favorite of the community.  Responding to the recommendation, the Downtown Development Authority authorized the purchase of the movie equipment in June 2013.  Currently, DGRI plans for a total of six films to be shown as part of Movies in the Park series for 2013. Follow Downtown Grand Rapids, Inc. on Facebook and Twitter for opportunities to participate in the selection of future movies, and the three additional movie dates.
